HRT vs. BHRT: What is all this buzz about hormones?

Maybe you feel tired, anxious, and “not like I used to.”
But when you go to your regular doctor, you are told “You are fine, everything looks normal.” Or worse – “You are just getting older! Live with it, this is the way it goes.”

Then your friend asks you if you’ve had your hormones checked, and questions pop into your mind; When should I get my hormones checked? Why should I get my hormones checked? What are my options if my hormones are low? Why would my hormones be low?

HORMONE LEVELS DROP NATURALLY
As hormone production naturally slows with age, symptoms such as hot flashes, decreased libido, dryness, mood swings, weight gain, sleep difficulty, and memory loss begin to occur. Symptoms of hormone imbalance effect both men and women, ranging from subtle signs to life-impacting changes. Hormone therapy is often used to restore lost estrogen, progesterone, and/or testosterone to help mitigate these symptoms.

YOU HAVE TREATMENT OPTIONS
There are typically two paths recommended by today’s experts for treating hormone imbalance:

  1. Standard Hormone Replacement Therapy: Synthetic hormones are cost effective and can help relieve symptoms, but don’t possess the same structure as human hormones, causing more potential side effects.
  2. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy: Plant-based hormones that are designed to be chemically identical to the hormones your body naturally produces, thus being tolerated by most bodies much better and provide benefits such as:
  • Better sleep with less sleep interruptions such as night sweats
  • Improved sex drive and performance
  • Less irritability and anxiety
  • Improved brain focus
  • Improved energy levels and muscle mass retention and growth

WHY CHOOSE BIOIDENTICAL HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY (BHRT)?

Hormone therapy has been available to the public for many years. Unfortunately, information about traditional hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be outdated and confusing. The most up to date clinical studies have shown that bioidentical hormones potentially result in fewer side effects than synthetic hormones, while providing better relief of symptoms.

When it comes to targeting and treating hormone imbalance, BHRT is the better option because bioidentical hormones are much closer to your natural hormonal composition.

BHRT may also offer men and women additional health benefits, such as reduced risk for Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and colon cancer.

How soon will you see results?  Some patients notice improvement within a few days, but most patients require 6 to 8 weeks of consistent BHRT before they have significant improvement.
